On 23rd May 2026, I attended Behind the Headlines event organized by the Forum of Indian Professionals in Hong Kong. This year they invited a veteran journalist from India Mr. Rajdeep Sardesai. In the past I have seen Mr. Sardesai’s videos on Youtube or sometimes even on TV when I visit India. I attended the event with my parents and cousin Neeldada who is visiting from India. It was an interesting evening as Mr. Sardesai spoke well and demonstrated good sense of humour. There were some heated exchanges with my father (Pushkar Sane ) as he highlighted some misinformation in tweets asked Mr. Sardesai a question on journalistic accountability. While the moderator wanted to move on, what I appreciate is that Mr. Sardesai was willing to engage even though it was a difficult conversation. The event was under the Chatham House Rule so no recording of the interaction but it was an interesting conversation.
